What is an Akai MPC?
The Akai MPC is a music production center made by Japanese brand Akai. Since its release in 1988, Akai has released nine models of the MPC. Although it started out as a modified drum machine, the MPC has grown in capabilities and today the latest models provides a full sequencer, sampler and recording capabilities. Aside from making beats, the MPC is also used for live performances by hip hop artists, deejays, and rock bands for “on the fly” remixes.
